EASTMAN™ TURBO OIL 2389

Eastman™ Turbo Oil 2389 is a low viscosity gas turbine oil, offering exceptional cold-start capability.

Many large commercial airlines use Eastman™ Turbo Oil 2389 in their auxiliary power units (APUs), because of the reliability it affords this equipment when starting after long, cold-soaks at altitude. Eastman™ Turbo Oil 2389 is the only MIL-PRF-7808 Grade 3 qualified oil that is fully approved in all Honeywell and UTC Aerospace Systems APUs. Eastman™ Turbo Oil 2389 is formulated from synthetic base stocks and advanced technology additives, to provide the combined thermal and oxidation stability properties of commercial Type II lubricants, with the low temperature fluidity characteristics of a 3 centistoke oil. It also has load-carrying ability equal to, or better than, other approved MIL-PRF-7808 Grade 3 oils.

EASTMAN™ TURBO OIL 25

Eastman™ Turbo Oil 25 is a high load-carrying gas turbine oil, for the most demanding gear applications.

Helicopter operators in both military and private sectors have shown a preference for the DOD-PRF-85734 oils, like Eastman™ Turbo Oil 25, because of the wear protection provided by its extreme pressure additive technology. Eastman is the only oil manufacturer to offer broadly used DOD-PRF-85734 and MIL-PRF-23699 HTS Class oils, to suit all your helicopter oil lubrication needs.

Eastman™ Turbo Oil 25 is formulated from synthetic base stocks and advanced technology additives, to provide the combined thermal and oxidation stability properties of commercial Type II lubricants, with extreme pressure additives to maximise gear system reliability.

Eastman™ Turbo Oil 25 is a DOD-PRF-85734, 5 cSt viscosity class oil, plus extreme pressure additives, for the demanding loads of helicopter gearboxes.

EASTMAN™ HALO 157

For many years MIL-PRF-23699 approved engine lubricants were employed in helicopter gearboxes, ensuring a common lubricant for both engines and transmission systems. More recently, high-load-carrying oils have been evaluated and found to offer advantages over conventional-load-carrying MIL-PRF-23699 oils. These higher-load-carrying oils, complying with specification DOD-PRF-85734, were originally intended only for engine applications. The two MIL spec oils are thus of identical viscometric properties. Operators considered that lubrication performance of gearboxes could be enhanced by a higher-viscosity, high-load-carrying lubricant possessing improved corrosion-protective qualities.

Eastman HALO 157 is a clear, amber-colored fluid with a faintly aromatic odor reminiscent of turbine engine oils. It is based on selected polyol esters, the inherent characteristics of which are enhanced by additives. It is also fully compatible and miscible with other oils approved to specifications MIL-PRF-23699 and MIL-PRF-7808.

Multiple tests have been completed in bearing and gearbox rigs and flight evaluations, culminating in the NATO standard (AIR STANDARD ACS 4035) for a 9-cSt advanced helicopter gearbox lubricant.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

A purpose designed lubricant with a viscosity of 9 cSt @ 100ºC and 12,700 cSt @ -32ºC

Excellent load carrying and antiwear performance

Excellent shear stability

Good corrosion resistance

Good elastomer compatibility

Greater inter-gear film thickness

High temperature stability

SKYDROL® 5 FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUID

Introduced in 1996, Skydrol 5 was the first Type V fluid qualified under the Boeing BMS 3-11 specification. Skydrol 5 offers higher temperature capability than Type IV fluids, the lowest density, and better paint compatibility. Skydrol 5 does not have universal air frame manufacturer approval, so consult Eastman's Skydrol Technical Service (800-260-4150) for specific approval and application information.

APPLICATIONS/USES

Aviation hydraulic systems

SKYDROL® 500B-4 FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUID

The Skydrol 500 series of fluids has the longest service history among phosphate ester products. The first version, Skydrol 500, was introduced in 1952. Steady improvements to the formulation led in 1977 to the current version, Skydrol 500B-4 which contains the same breakthrough anti erosion additive and acid scavenger found in Skydrol LD-4 . Skydrol 500B-4 is the most worker friendly of the aviation phosphate esters; it is least irritating to skin and less prone to form mists which can be irritating to the respiratory tract . This has given the product enormous popularity for use in work shops and indoor test stands..

APPLICATIONS/USES

Aviation hydraulic systems

SKYDROL® LD4 FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUID

Skydrol LD-4 was introduced in 1977 , and is well known around the world. At the time of its introduction it was a breakthrough product, solving problems of valve erosion and thermal stability common in earlier fluids. Its excellent thermal stability under real world conditions has given it a reputation as the gold standard among Type IV fluids. Skydrol LD-4 features low density, excellent thermal stability, valve erosion prevention, and deposit control.

APPLICATIONS/USES

Aviation hydraulic systems

SKYDROL® PE-5 FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUID

Skydrol PE-5 was developed to meet and exceed the more demanding Type V fluid requirements. It features the longest fluid life of any commercially available fluid, low density and low viscosity at low temperature—an unbeatable combination of the best features for optimum fluid performance. Thermal stability is according to Airbus test method, Fluid life test with 0.5% moisture level.

APPLICATIONS/USES

Aviation hydraulic fluids

MCS® 352B

This product is a viscous assembly lubricant for components and equipment designed to use Skydrol aviation hydraulic fluids. Approved by airframe manufacturers, MCS 352B lubricates seals during assembly, preventing them from being damaged. It introduces no foreign material into the hydraulic system because it contains no silicone oils or any petroleum based products.

MCS 352B is only sold through our distributors, TBM, Inc. (US, 800-825-1128) and Interturbine (EU, +49 4191 809 300).
